that a man who has said to his fans that he aims to spread kindness and love by performing random acts of the such and has said his favourite kind of people are those who are generous and loving; would have some members of the supernatural fandom spread so much hate about him? A day of hate for a man who wishes to spread love, seems to be an old story that will never change. However those of us who follow Misha’s example (knowingly or not) will challenge that hate. I’m disappointed that things like this happen and I certainly know Misha isn’t the first, but despite that I will fling my arms wide and hug the haters with all the forgiveness I can muster. Misha isn’t perfect as is no-one in this world, but I love the man, flaws and all :)
that Sam, Dean and Cas forget that if it wasn’t for Meg, Jo and Ellen might have lived a hell of a lot longer. Forget all the helping raise Lucifer from hell stuff, I love to hate Meg because of what she did to them. I have to wonder if the writers forgot about this pinnacle moment while writing Meg back into the story in season 6 and forcing her relationship with Cas. It makes me sad that every time Meg is being glorified as a hero or good guy, I feel like Jo and Ellen’s memories are being sullied.
I spent the morning un-following a bunch of very talented people on Tumblr.
That feels like a really weird thing to say. And it is.
It was nearly a dozen different artists in all, and they were all extremely talented. Part of what moved me to Follow them in the first place was their skill. In…
I agree with this so much. I watch many different people of varying skill level and focus, but the defining thread is that they produce original work and have original stories in their heads. I like young artists a lot for this reason; sometimes the stories aren’t the best but the feeling and brain power behind them is there.
Fanartists can do incredible work too, but as a consumer of art it’s as significant as the difference between eating a meal and eating someone else’s vomit.
So fanart is vomit? Jesus christ. Is that necessary? I have a lot of respect for you but this really sours that. You can word your opinion in a way that doesn’t just shit all over others.
Maybe if people showed the slightest interest in any original art I’d done ever in the degree they fall over my fanart, I’d give a shit about sharing my original art. If people value original art so much as to call derivative art vomit, why doesn’t that value show at all???
People don’t share their art online like it’s a business, especially on Tumblr. You’re not a “consumer”. They don’t owe you anything. They share fanart because it’s what they have fun with and they enjoy being a part of a community that cares about it. Let them draw whatever they want and what makes them happy and if you don’t like it, then fine, don’t watch them! Who cares, honestly. Geez.
At the risk of getting my head lopped off, I’m going to stick my neck out here.
I agree with aterriblethought. There seems to be a disturbing trend of big-time artists shitting on fanartists or casual artists. My only question is: why does it matter to you? Does so-and-so drawing Sherlock slash art on Tumblr really effect you in any way, besides being annoying on your dash? You don’t like it, unfollow them. There’s honestly no need to write big, involved essays about why those people are lesser artists and not worthy of your attention - and on Tumblr of all places. Seriously? This is as casual as blogging gets. Most people (myself included) got Tumblrs just so they would have a place to dump fanart so it wouldn’t flood our main sites.
It doesn’t make you seem bigger or more important to call fanart “social waste” and “vomit.” It just makes you look like the jerk standing at the party screaming “STOP HAVING FUN.” Which, bee tea dubs, is the reason people draw fanart. Because it’s fun. And more often than not, being bitter and spiteful about it is only alienating people that would otherwise be fans of your work.
There is no automatic demotion for artists who dare to draw copyrighted material. People are going to draw whatever they want. Getting worked up over it not being up to your standards is a waste of energy.
I completely agree with aterriblethought and preservedcucumbers on this one. I used to spend a lot of time working on my own stories with my own characters and I still do when I’m working on my animations but it is hard to get noticed completely on original work. Fan art is a fun way for me to hone my skills without worrying about the background and personality of the characters I’m trying to convey. Using pre-existing characters and settings that I enjoy allows me to think outside of my usual frame of thought and apply ideas I would otherwise struggle creating a story basis for rather than trying out new experimental techniques. I also think that saying you are not an artist because you are using content from something pre-existing is in itself closed minded, technically looking through the course of art history there has not been a truly and completely original thought in quite some time. People take inspiration from the things that surround them, whether that is a TV show or your own room. I believe being an artist is trying to convey something, to inspire, but also to entertain, we all owe a lot to the people who follow us and at the end of the day it’s both for ourselves and for them we do this for. Consumer value counts in all aspects of the artistic industry but blogs usually are for more casual posting and should be expected as such.
I dreamt I was looking up conventions in London that would be happening soon and found a video of Tobuscus and Olga Kay saying they were visiting England so I spent £40 too go see them and then I scrolled down too see Jared Padalecki was also having a small convention in London so I brought a ticket for that too. I went and had a brilliant time talking to Toby and Olga but when I met Jared we just started talking and having an awesome time, then we went out bike riding and playing pranks on people and throwing a football round in the park. I haven’t been that happy since my dream with Misha’s sleepover.
where Jensen and Jared were hosting morning TV for a week in England and they were utterly hilarious. Then Jared decided to stay for an episode of EastEnders which made me laugh my ass off coz I hate EastEnders but he made it a million times better. That was a good dream.
So trensu and I watched it together, hoping that ‘strength in numbers’ would apply. It did prevent open weeping, so I’ll call it a win. It did not, however, prevent me from rolling around/burying my face in pillows/dry sobbing in anguish. I’m a little embarassed you had to see that, trensu. Sorry.
was so brilliant I can’t stop thinking about it. It started out looking like that was Castiel’s anwser to Dean’s question but he couldn’t say the words and then he magically set it up to play and asked if Dean wanted to go first. He’s trying to get Dean to apologise for not caring about him and for all the mistakes Dean has made towards him because he know’s Dean wont apologise on his own. However Cas can’t deal with all the guilt and emotional torment so he’s dealing with Sam’s instead and can’t apologise either because he’s scared, he’s so scared.
Dean dosen’t understand though, he can’t see or he won’t see what Castiel is trying to do. Maybe he’d in denial about having anything to be sorry for, just like he denies all his feelings. He keeps going back to the start of the board because he can’t move forward in this conflict, he can’t get any closer to saying sorry with everything he’s got on his shoulders. So he knocks the board away, he doesn’t want to play games anymore, he wants Castiel to apologise for what he did or at least do everything he can to make up for it. Castiel can’t, so he bows his head, disconnecting himself from the conversation and goes to pick up the pieces of his lost effort…
They’re at an impasse, neither will give for fear of falling and never being able to get up.
I think she’s a good character and there’s something about the actress who’s playing her that I really like but I feel her whole presence on the show is extremely forced. I currently don’t trust Meg looking after Castiel in the mental ward, it could be that the track record for selfless demons has been 0 and they are always talking about how demons arn’t trust-worthy but I just don’t believe she’s in it just because she cares for Cas. I’m interested to see where it will go but megstiel doesn’t agree with me. I see the appeal and the sense behind it but I just feel like the writers are trying too hard to pair Cas with someone. He also barely knows Meg, I can’t imagine he was pally with her whist working with Crowley seeing as the two demons don’t see eye to eye.
This is just me putting my opinion out there, I love Meg’s character and actress, I just feel that her place in the story thus far and her relationship with Castiel is forced. Also I still find it hard to believe Dean would just trust her that much considering everything she did in the first 2 series. I donno, does anyone else feel this way?
and every immature person on tumblr is jumping on it. If you have a problem with the actors, their conduct or whatever, atleast express it in a way that is constructive or at the very least dosen’t belittle people such as myself who love all the actors on Supernatural. I feel like because one person got away with posting an opinion which is believe in the best manner that now everyone else feels they can throw out abusive comments. The things you hear about the actors are severly second hand, keep in mind you don’t know them in person and thus judgement on them is bias. If you don’t like them, fine, you have every right but please frame your dislike constructively instead of throwing your toys out of your prams.
I love Jensen, Misha and Jared, I think they’re excellent even though things they’ve said have rubbed me the wrong way before. They’re humans, they make mistakes, they’re just so much in the spotlight that every mistake shines like a friggin beacon.
I understand a few people were upset by this and by all rights your allowed to be, but I think people are taking what they said too close to heart. Misha’s jokes about Sebastian COULD have been taken as rape jokes but could also have been taken as a joke that Seb likes sex and would probably have sex with the virgins there if they were willing. With the Cas and Meg thing I think Misha was just stating that it COULD have happened because lets face it, Meg’s a demon and she dosent exactly have morals. The audience probably laughed at the sheer idea of Misha bringing it up, I know i did, I certainly was not laughing at any undertones of rape in what he said.
As for Jensen and Misha’s comments on the trench coat scene, I was saddened by the fact they thought thier characters wouldn’t be able to let down their guard for even a moment to be more intimate with their words but that is their interpretation of their characters. They act as Dean and Castiel on a very regular basis and if they thought the scene was too intimate for their characters then that’s just how it is. I also don’t think Jensen meant his comment as a general assumtion on the audience, I believe he was applying it to himself and Misha, that they would never say the lines they were given to someone else. Maybe this is because the lines were just so forced and cheesy that even saying them to someone in real life would be awkward, even someone they loved (whether that be man or women). You also have to consider the fact that as far as we know Jensen isn’t gay and he probably has a hard time imagining how a homosexual couple would interact or at least how he would react if confronted with a homosexual relationship.
Anything someone says when put on the spot can be taken out of context or misinterpreted and I’m in no way saying you shouldn’t feel upset or offended. However people are expressing their own interpretations as truths and this is not fair on the actors. They have to be careful everyday about what they say and sometimes their not going to appease everyone, they wouldn’t purposely go out of their way to upset whole fan bases like this. Just be happy that they even let you ask them questions in the first place, we’re awfully lucky they are even trying to have a good re pore with us.
